Farming is the main livelihood for most of the dwellers in Adamawa State. JDPH is empowering these farmers on dry season farming in the Bazza community of Michika LGA to pick up the activities again!

In northeast Nigeria, JDPH is partnering with kerk in Actie to contribute to long-term sustainable livelihood opportunities for women to prevent poverty and also help to boost local businesses within households.

MAY, 2023

Dry season farming is ongoing now in Dugum community of Nangere LGA of Yobe State as a result of the provision of 20,000 liters of solar motorized boreholes provided by JDPH with support from Kerk in Actie.

A group of women received a start-up grant from JDPH after being trained in entrepreneurship and financial management to improve their income.

JUNE 2024

The goal of this training was to build the capacity of 200 farmers in 8 communities across Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe States on how to use Purdue Improved crop storage bags (PICS) properly to reduce post-harvest losses, improve food quality, and increase income.

At JDPH, we are deeply committed to the principle of meticulous attention to detail. We believe that agricultural advancement relies on everyone executing their tasks with precision. To achieve this, our farmers must consistently focus on doing the right things the right way.
Our Monitoring and Evaluation team plays a crucial role in this mission, assessing farms and engaging farmers in the Kwajiffa community, Hawul LGA of Borno State, and Tampul community, Haskira-Uba LGA of Borno State. Despite the challenges of accessing these communities, we were delighted to witness significant progress and noteworthy developments.
It was a highly productive day, filled with valuable insights into the current state of agriculture in the region. These achievements were made possible through our close collaboration with the farmers and the steadfast support from Kerk in Actie. Together, we continue to build resilience and drive growth in our agricultural communities.

Empowering Women Through Financial Literacy and Enterprise Development.

At the heart of every impactful community project lies a clear benchmark, and this principle guides our approach. Our field teams have been actively engaged in both North-East and North-Central Nigeria, specifically in Likuni and Kankra (Michika LGA) and Shuwa and Kumbula (Madagali LGA) of Adamawa State, as well as Matelem and Butura-Company (Bokkos LGA) of Plateau State.
In each of these communities, 10 Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) were successfully formed following comprehensive training sessions for women. These sessions focused on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, bookkeeping, savings and loan management, and budgeting.
The goal of this initiative is to equip women with essential tools and knowledge to strengthen their income-generating activities, enhance productivity, and promote economic resilience within their communities.

Community Health, Justice and Peace Initiative for Development has distributed homestead micro‑garden farm inputs to participants in Likuni Community, Michika LGA
With the support of Kerk in Actie, this initiative is designed to boost dry season farming, a practice for which the community is already well known.
By equipping households with the right tools and inputs, CHeJPID is helping strengthen food security, improve livelihoods, and sustain agricultural traditions in Adamawa State.

Empowering farmers from the ground up!
JDPH in partnership with Cordaid , recently conducted a training on post-harvest handling and the distribution of farming inputs in Kasuwan Katako community of Yola North and Yola South of Adamawa State
The training aimed at improving food storage, reducing post-harvest losses, and ultimately boosting the income of smallholder farmers, women farmers, and youth in the community.
As part of the initiative, participants received essential farming inputs, including seeds and tools, equipping them with everything they need to thrive this farming season.
Together, we are building a stronger, food-secure community, farmer by farmer.
