Our Thematic Areas
Across Plateau, Adamawa and Borno States, JDPH delivers integrated humanitarian and development programming. Our work is participatory and locally led — we enter communities through their own leaders and structures, build practical skills, provide the inputs that turn knowledge into livelihoods, and stay present through mentoring and monitoring.
Food Security and Livelihood
We support vulnerable households to achieve food security and build resilient livelihoods — climate-smart agriculture, improved seeds and farming techniques, post-harvest management, savings and loans groups, vocational skills training and enterprise support that help families diversify income and withstand shocks.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
We improve access to safe water and better sanitation for underserved communities: constructing and rehabilitating water facilities, training water management committees, and promoting hygiene practices that reduce waterborne disease and protect public health.
Peace Building
In conflict-affected communities we promote peaceful coexistence through inter-community dialogue, mediation and reconciliation. We train peace ambassadors, support early warning systems, and strengthen the leadership of women and youth in building lasting peace and social cohesion.
Good Governance and Human Rights
We strengthen accountable governance and citizen participation. Through civic engagement, social accountability, policy advocacy and human rights awareness, we connect citizens with government and support institutions to become more responsive to community needs.
Protection
We safeguard the dignity, safety and rights of the most vulnerable — women, children and persons with disabilities. Our work covers safeguarding and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, functional referral pathways, and community-based structures that identify and respond to protection risks.
Institutional Development
We invest in strengthening organizations and community structures for sustainable impact: governance and leadership training, financial management and compliance systems, digital tools for monitoring and learning, and capacity building for staff, partners and community institutions.
