Rev. Msgr. Tanimu Cletus Gotan was born in Bokkos, in Plateau State of Nigeria on 16″ April, 1949. He received his primary and secondary education at the Holy Cross Pankshin and St. John Vianney seminary, Barkin Ladi (1964-1968) respectively. After studying Philosophy and Theology at the St. Augustine’s Seminary, Jos (1969-1974), he was ordained priest at the Holy Cross Church, Pankshin on December 15″, 1974.

Between 1977-1981, he studied at the renowned Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and the famous Hebrew University, in Jerusalem. He lectured in Sacred Scriptures and Biblical languages at St. Augustine’s Major Seminary, Jos. He became the Rector of the same Institution in 1984, a position he held for six years. He served as Chaplain of the Good Shepherd Chaplaincy, University of Jos, where he recently retired as a Professor in the Faculty of Education.

He was once the pioneer National Secretary and National President of the Nigerian Catholic Diocesan Priests Association (NCDPA). He is the Vicar General (Administration and Religious) in the Archdiocese of Jos, chairman, the Board of Governors, Oswald Waller College of Education, Shendam; a Member of the Council, Federal College of Education, Pankshin;

Member of Council, Veritas University, Abuja and the Acting Provost, College of Education, Gindiri.
