In very good vintage condition for age, possibly an antique; possibly from Victorian era; appears to be rare. The front of the brooch looks in very good condition with some fine surface scratches on the back. There are no maker's marks or hallmarks.<br><br>Features gold tone frame with unknown metal and black glossy background ?Onyx? with a center pearl stone and the clasp appears to be a safety catch or round hinge.<br><br>Measures approximately 1.75 inches x 1.0 inches<br><br>Mourning brooches were popular in Victorian times, especially 1837-1901.
