Vintage Green Jade Vase with Foo Dog on top. Dimensions: 13 x 5 x 1 1/2 inches. Weight: 4 lbs 0.35 oz with wooden base. #45.
Small chip on the vase's top center (see photo). A chip is also present on the opposite side. Light spot on the lid's corner. Possibly a bruise. Shallow surface type. Believed to be very old. These marks can possibly be removed with fine sanding and polishing.
Purchased along with other stone carvings between 1973 and 1975 from a private collection just west of Chicago. The original owners started collecting in the 1940s. The carvings were from Japan and China.
There was an embargo from China to the US from 1949 to 1972, so the vase is from before 1949.
