Publisher advertisements after the front end paper.<br><br>Very scarce 19th Century biography of Stephen A. Douglas, the 1860 Democratic candidate who lost to Lincoln, in its original publisher's binding. The binding consists of blue cloth-covered boards with blind-stamped borders to the front and rear covers, as well as the publisher's initials blind-stamped into the center of the front cover. The title, author, and publisher initials all in bright gold gilt along the spine.<br><br>Size:<br>Approx. 5-1/2" over by 7-3/4" tall
