Size: Approximately 8.5 x 15 inches.
Karl Mattern (German-American, 1892-1969) studied at the Art Institute of Chicago under George Bellows. He taught at the Chicago Academy of Art and the University of Kansas. He also worked for the WPA during the Depression. In 1948, he moved to Iowa and taught at Drake University. His works are held in the collections of the Des Moines Art Center, the Denver Art Museum, and others. Please see pictures for condition details.
