Antique Javanese Gem-Set Gilded & Silver Filigree Ear Plug Ornament.
Dating back to the 19th century in Java, Indonesia. A single silver alloy ear plug. The examples here are of gilded (gold-plated) silver and possibly some copper. It is set with faceted clear stones or glass in box settings arrayed as flower blossoms, against a dark felt background. The thick posts are of gilded sheet silver and are decorated with a band of fine filigree at their bases. The back of the post is similarly decorated with silver filigree wire which has been arrayed as a flower to match the stone-set front.
Measures 1" x 7/8". Weighs 10.5g. Condition: Pre-Owned Fair. Great for Google & Mercari searches.
