Antique Japanese Raised Relief Satsuma Kinkozan Porcelain Vase/Lamp Base 13” The rectangular mark on the bottom, partly worn and chipped away, looks like it might be 錦光山 Kinkozan, a maker of Satsuma ware. The hole was opened later, probably to accommodate a lamp. Kinkozan was active roughly 1875-1925. This antique Japanese Satsuma porcelain vase or lamp base is a beautiful example of traditional Japanese craftsmanship. With three-dimensional motifs of the immortals from the late period of the Japanese Empire Meiji this three dimensional design is one of only a few left from that era. Hand painted with intricate raised relief designs, this 12 inch piece showcases a vibrant multi-color palette. Dating back to the late 19th century or early 20th century, this antique original vase was crafted in Japan, making it a valuable piece for collectors of Asian antiques.
