Altemus' Wee Books for Wee Folks The Story of Litttle Black Sambo

Book has been in family for almost 90 years. Believed to be circa 1918-1921. <br>Early edition hardcover from publisher Henry Altemus Company, Philadelphia. <br>Classic story is by the original author, Harriet Bannerman. Apparently, author was not credited here due to a copyright lapse. Color illustrated throughout. Hardcover copy has a light gray hardcover with a red cloth spine. Full color glossy illustration mounted on front cover. Also shows black lettering and embossed jungle art.<br>Book condition: See photos. The spine is loose from age. There are a few pages missing , I presume.<br>Book First page is No. 5 The Preface. This may be correct as there are 4 unnumbered pages before page 5. <br>Pages 7-10 appear to be missing. Book goes from page 6 to page 11.<br>At page 22, you jump to page 27. Pages 55-58 are in book, but not connected to spine.<br>Book ends at page 63. Then 4 pages of ads. No tears or other damage. Original owner "Bunny" wrote name on inside back cover where indicated to do.
