1848 Braided Hair Large Cent, Newcomb-32 variety. R-5 rarity. This rare variety is indicated by the date being farther left and a die crack on the reverse.
Copper composition with a brown color.
In XF/AU condition. A valuable piece of US coinage history from the mid-19th century. The N-32 isn't seen very often. I can only find 1 other example for sale and it's over $800 and is in worse shape then this example
