Humanitarian and developmental services advancing justice, health, and dignity for the communities that need it most.
Serving vulnerable communities across Plateau, Adamawa and Borno States, Nigeria
Community Health, Justice and Peace Initiative for Development (JDPH) is a faith based non-governmental organization headquartered in Jos, Plateau State. Working through the structures of eight Catholic dioceses across Plateau, Adamawa, Borno and neighbouring states, JDPH delivers integrated humanitarian and development programming in peacebuilding, protection, food security and livelihoods, water, sanitation and hygiene, digital inclusion and capacity building.
We work in communities fractured by violence and mistrust. We bring people across ethnic and religious lines into dialogue, support local peace structures, and help former adversaries rebuild relationships through shared economic and social activity. That same trust makes protection possible, as safe spaces, referral pathways and support for survivors of violence take root only where communities feel secure enough to speak. It also shapes how we restore water, sanitation and hygiene, siting boreholes and facilities so that rival groups share them rather than fight over them, turning a common well into common ground. We treat recovery and coexistence as one task, because safety, livelihood and social cohesion rise and fall together.
Our approach is participatory and locally led. We enter communities through their own leaders and structures, select beneficiaries transparently, build skills through practical training, provide the inputs that turn knowledge into livelihoods and stay present through mentoring and monitoring. Gender equality, disability inclusion, conflict sensitivity and accountability to affected populations run through everything we do.
